The weekend's biggest international winners

Guy Williams and Derpardieu
Van'TKeizelhof
With the fastest of three double clears in the class, Britain's Guy Williams headed the Lons le Saunier Grand Prix with Lindsay Doran's Derpardieu Van'T Kiezelhof.

He beat Switzerland's Simone Wettstein by just under one second, having already secured two wins, one of which was a Grand Prix qualifier, at the French show with Titus.

Spruce Meadows
American rider Kyle King was also the fastest of three double clears, this time in the CN Performance Grand Prix, riding Capone I. He's one of the few people who have managed to beat Candian home rider Eric Lamaze and his wonder horse Hickstead in recent months. This time the reigning Olympic champions had to settle for second.

Brits Michael Whitaker (Viking V) and his niece Ellen (Equimax Ocolado) were among the final shake up having both gone clear in the first round. However, a fence apiece in round two left them standing sixth and seventh, respectively, in the final line-up.

Three-star shows
Drammen, Norway, were hosts to a promotional league Nations Cup and league leader Switzerland further extended its position at the top of the table with a win on eight points over Turkey, who finished on nine.

The Swiss had another reason to celebrate at the show. Their rider Arthur Da Silva headed the Drammen Derby with Amor van het Lindehof, while, in Roeser, Luxembourg, Martin Fuchs won the Grand Prix with Principal 12.

The OKK Grand Prix of Drammen was taken by Britain's David McPherson riding the British-bred Billy Bishop, a product of Donal Barnwell and William Funnell's successful breeding programme.

There had been no clears in the first round, largely due to a tight time allowed, and David, along with Italy's Giovanni Consorti (Silvestras) and Norway's Victoria Gulliksen (Storm 16) accessed the jump-off carrying one time fault each. David was the only one of the trio to produce a clear and snatch the lead.

In Aalst, Belgium, Eurocommerce's horse were in fine form. The Netherland's Wout Jan van der Schan (Eurocommerce Sacramento) and his fellow countryman Gerco Schroder (Eurocommerce California) took the top two spots in the BMW Garage Romein Grand Prix.

In Russia's Moscow Grand Prix, there were no double clears wth all four jump-off contenders jumping a clear and four. However, home rider Vladimir Tuganov (Carvin) was the fastest of these, claiming the win by a massive eight seconds.
