Tickets for the Olympia, The London International Horse Show, 2011 go on sale on Monday, 27 June and this year’s show has some surprises in store.

So how gutted was I? The last day of Olympia 2010, just a short walk away from the Grand Hall and I couldn't get there. Struck down with gastroenteritis, I was confined to my hotel room watching a live results screen refresh every few minutes.

I could only imagine what was happening a little further down Kensington High Street. Crowds cheering, Nick Brookes-Ward and Mike Tucker jumping up and down in their commentary seats as competitors raced around the Kingsland Grand Prix course, shoppers trying to get their last minute gifts in the trade stands, and the obligatory end of show glass of champagne as the last bit of copy is sent to press.

Starlight Children's Foundation announced as Olympia's charity partner

This year, Starlight Children’s Foundation has been chosen as the official charity partner of the 2010 London International Horse Show at Olympia. Starlight, which is a national charity that brightens the lives of sick children with once-in-a-lifetime wishes and hospital entertainment, will be celebrating the partnership by bringing Christmas early to some very deserving children at the event in London on Thursday, 16 December.

Olympia's confirmed riders include five of the world's top 10

With only a week to go until Olympia, The London International Horse Show (14-20 December) five of the top 10 show jumpers in the world have confirmed their attendance.

Kevin Staut (FRA), currently world number one in the Rolex Rankings; Rolf-Göran Bengtsson (SWE) (5); Edwina Alexander (AUS) (8); Billy Twomey (IRE) (9) and Pénélope Leprevost (FRA) (10) are all making the trip to London next week, as is last year’s Rolex FEI World Cup Jumping Qualifier winner Eric van der Vleuten (NED) (21).

Seven of the world’s top 10 show jumpers have been included in the nominated entries for Olympia, The London International Horse Show (14-20 December 2010).
Kevin Staut (FRA), currently world number one in the Rolex rankings; Pius Schwizer (SUI) (4); Rolf-Göran Bengtsson (SWE) (5); Denis Lynch (IRL) (7); Edwina Alexander (AUS) (8); Pénélope Leprevost (FRA) (9), and Jessica Kürten (IRL) (10) have all been included in a star-studded list which has 26 of the world’s top 50 short-listed for attendance.

Win a private box at Olympia

Organisers of the London International Horse Show Olympia are running a competition to win a private box for the winner and 11 friends to enjoy this year's show from.

The private boxes at Olympia have amazing views of the show jumping and equestrian displays in the arena. The evening dress code is black tie and cocktail dresses, you'll be served a buffet supper with drinks by your own waitress and enjoy a brilliant Christmas party for you and your friends.

Personal notes: War horse is coming to Olympia

One of the things I never seem to have is time to go out and do stuff like a "normal" person. You know the type, the ones that don't spend their lives at shows. So I was thrilled to discover that I'll be able to get a sneak preview of one of the things on my to do list at Olympia this year.

I've been wanting to go and see War Horse at the New London Theatre for a while now, and get jealous when friends tell me how wonderful it is and how I'll have to take a stack of tissues with me when I finally do see it.
