British Showjumping, British Dressage and Horse & Country TV agree cooperation

H&C TV Ltd, British Showjumping and British Dressage have announced they have entered into an agreement to cooperate on the broadcast coverage of affiliated equestrian sports events and the promotion of talent within the sector.

As part of the agreement, the two associations become shareholders in H&C TV Ltd, the operator of the Horse & Country TV channel.

"Broadcast media is a critical element in the promotion of our sport," said Iain Graham, CEO of British Showjumping. "While we welcome coverage on mainstream TV channels, there is clearly demand from the enthusiast audience more than can be satisfied by these outlets. We are delighted to be able to work with Horse & Country TV to bring as much show jumping as possible to the British public.”

Amanda Bond, CEO of British Dressage, added: “Dressage is rapidly gaining in popularity and is a highly watchable sport with some great personalities, both human and equine.

"With the Olympics just around the corner, we want to use TV to permanently raise the public profile of our sport, both in the UK and abroad."

Chairman of H&C TV, Heather Killen, said: "Our mission is to bring the oxygen of media to horse sports, adding value to organisers, sponsors and participants. Over the past couple of years, we have redefined our relationship with British Showjumping and British Dressage and our understanding of how we can work together is evidenced by this agreement."

Under the agreement, the associations and H&C TV will work towards achieving more broadcast coverage of affiliated events, promoting the associations’ calendars on the air and growing their membership bases, as well as developing the profile of talent in the sector, distributing programming internationally and developing value-added partnerships for the sport’s sponsors.
