Dale has broken three vertebrae and three ribs and his recovery is expected to take between eight and 16 weeks.
"Luckily, the fractures are stable," said Dale. "At first they thought they weren't and they might need to operate, but the scan was good."
The injury came four days after Dale proposed to his long-term partner Charlotte Clarke while on holiday in Jamaica. She accepted, but a date has yet to be decided for 2011 or 2012.
