Bruce Menzies wins Cusionbed Grand Prix with Sultan V

Bruce Menzies and Sultan V
Bruce Menzies and the Old Lodge's Sultan V jumped the only triple clear to win the Cusionbed Grand Prix at the BS Scope Festival of Show Jumping.

Just three combinations made the final timed jump-off, in which Bruce was joined by Joe Clayton (Leonardo 590) and Graham Lovegrove (Tin Tin). Bruce was first to go with the eight-year-old gelding and, having finished second to Robert Whitaker (BF Utopia) in the gent's championship on Wednesday night, set a faultless, fast target. However, neither of his rivals were able to leave the arena without fault and had to settle for second and third, respectively.

Bruce has produced the eight-year-old son of Irco Mena from a four-year-old. Last year won the Horse & Hound Foxhunter and grade C championships at the Horse of the Year show and a few weeks ago he won the Old Lodge eight-year-old championship at the British Young Horse Championships. He is aiming to compete Sultan on a Nations Cup team next year.
