Denis Lynch shrugged off torrential rain and his 18 rivals in the jump-off of the five-star 1.50m medium tour final at the Valkenswaard leg of the Global Champions Tour to win with All Inclusive NRW.

The Irishman took the lead as fifth to go into the arena as conditions continued to worsen. His target could not be beaten, despite a strong challenge from Britain's Guy Williams (Belinka van het Overlede Goed). He finished just over half a second behind to finish second ahead of the USA's Lauren Hough (Casadora).

“To be fair I made the most of the weather. I reckoned being Irish I was more used to the rain than the others,” Denis joked.

Wout-Jan van der Schans won the Derby with P-Pilot, his Eindhoven Derby winner.

The Dutch rider was first to go on the course and complete the higher of the home nation's one-two, with Roelof Bril (Calover) in second.

"After Eindhoven, I knew I could trust my horse," said Wout-Jan. "I went in and went as fast as I could. You never know, but this time everything went OK for me, so I am very happy.”

Britain's Lauley Squibb had been looking ready for a win all week and it finally came when it mattered in the one-star special invitational 1.25m final.

Riding Lara Joy II, she was two seconds quicker than German runner-up Theresa Krapf (Tosya) after a 14-horse jump-off.
