The Arezzo Equestrian Centre has announced its initiatives for the 2010/2011 season
2010-2011.
The mayor of Arrezo, Giuseppe Fanfani, has confirmed the town's administrative support for the centre, which he says has given great support to the visibility of Arezzo at an international level and to the economy of the city.
The programme of events and initiatives began with the Italian National
Championships for Young Horses, which finished on 10 October 2010 and will be followed by Toscana Tour in 2011.
Holmo SRL, owned by Arezzo businessman and sport horse breeder Riccardo
Boricchi, has taken over all aspects of management of the centre, which is owned by Ita Marzotto.
"It [the centre] is still not as I would like it to be," said Ita. "We have had golden years. The last two years have been complicated but now we are in a phase of complete re-organisation and change. Thanks to the enthusiasm of Riccardo, who has given new life to the centre, we are ready for this new adventure and to complete development to ensure it is an international leader in terms of the quality of the structure and sporting facilities."
2010–2011 SEASON
Riccardo has proposed a calendar of eight international show jumping competitions and around 20 national competitions, including the Italian Championships and UNIRE (young horse) Championships.
From 15 March - 15 April 2011, the centre will host its Toscana Tour, with €586,000 prize money on offer, including two €50,000 grands prix, 12 FEI Rolex ranking classes and qualification classes for the European Championships.
Each week there will be a 1.20m bronze tour Derby and a 1.35m equivalent Derby for the silver/gold tours.
To demonstrate the new manager’s commitment to reviving the centre for the benefit of the sport, the entry fee has been discounted compared to recent years and a greater emphasis and culture of service is a core value of the team managing the Centre.
The Toscana Tour 2011 offers a wider programme to include a schedule for ponies and a return to the three separate categories of gold, silver and bronze tours, as well as the young horse tour.
There will be 3 covered warm-up arenas, a special veterinary clinic complete with physiotherapy and wellness equipment to provide preventative therapies and treatments to avoid the onset of common injuries.
Training course rounds will also be organised and the centre is open to reserving the working arenas, schedule permitting, for private training or trading purposes.
The schedule is still subject to approval by the FEI and FISE.
