More news on new British CSI

Following on from yesterday's post BS has this morning issued a release about exactly that.

The following is taken from that release:

British Showjumping is thrilled to announce that international show jumping is returning to Yorkshire with a new event making its debut next April at the Motorpoint Arena, Sheffield.

The Yorkshire International Showjumping Event (YISE) is due to run each Easter weekend from 2011 to 2013.

Welcome to Yorkshire, who are supporting the event, are looking forward to showcasing the sport within the City.

YISE will have almost £150,000 of prize money fought for during the three days of the show (22-24 April 2011) from an amateur championship on one of the days through to the top international classes that run during each of the performances.

The event will make show jumping as accessible to the public as possible. Firstly, tickets will be sold at a flat price of £20 per day (if purchased before 1st January 2011) on a first come first served basis in terms of best seating. The earlier the tickets purchased, the closer to the arena and better the position the seats will be allocated – a first of it’s kind within the sport.

With two performances a day, the £20 per day ticket allows the holder to enjoy both national finals, young rider and heavily contested international classes in addition to further displays and activities.

In addition to this, the earlier tickets sold will also allow for inclusion in behind the scens tours and accompanied coursewalks, an activity that is hoped to give people a real feel for the sport at a level they may not have experienced before.

"To say we’re delighted that this new event has come to fruition would be an under-statement," said Maria Clayton, head of communications for British Showjumping. "We started discussions at the beginning of the year with a number of potential venues being identified within Yorkshire, in addition to how such an event could sit in the competition calendar.

"One of our core aims has been to bring our sport back into the centre of thriving communities, in addition to creating additional international shows to assist with our performance pathway programmes.

"With the foresight and vision of Welcome to Yorkshire we are now able to meet these and are extremely grateful for both this and the opportunity to have such a superb platform to showcase our existing and up and coming talented riders.”

The National Championships that YISE will play host to will be announced shortly along with where and how to qualify.
