The Netherlands' Eric Van Der Vleuten is competing his former top horse Tomboy on the international circuit while new rider Athina Onassis de Miranda is out of action with a damaged shoulder.
Tomboy was sold to Athina and her husband Doda early in 2010, but a fall from Ricardo at Bourg-en-Bresse in June resulted in Athina needing surgery on her shoulder and being unable to ride for a few months. Eric was asked to ride the 11-year-old gelding until Athina starts riding again and this weekend the pair finished fourth in the Global Champions Tour two-star grand prix, which was won by Daniel Deusser and Hooligan De Rosyl.
